Getting around
Five highways meet here: I-94, I-494, I-694, Highway 169 and Highway 610. Maple Grove Transit runs express buses to downtown Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota, with free park-and-ride at the Maple Grove Transit Station (12350 Main Street North) and Parkway Station. Downtown Minneapolis is about 20 to 30 minutes by car, and MSP Airport about 30 to 40, depending on traffic.
Parks and trails
More than 50 city parks and over 55 miles of trails, plus the Maple Grove Arboretum. Elm Creek’s trails connect to Dayton and Champlin and to the Rush Creek and Medicine Lake regional trails.
Through the year
Maple Grove Days every July, with a parade and fireworks. A farmers market at the Community Center (12951 Weaver Lake Road) on Thursday afternoons, May to mid-October. The Maple Grove Library is at 8001 Main Street North.
School districts
Most of Maple Grove is in Osseo Area Schools (ISD 279), and part of the southwest is in Wayzata Public Schools (ISD 284). Boundaries go by address, so check any home with the district before you write an offer. We’ll do it with you.

Water and sewer
The city provides water and sewer, billed quarterly along with stormwater, recycling and organics. Start service with the city’s online form or call Utility Billing at 763-494-6330. Unpaid water bills can become a lien on a home, so we have the title company confirm the balance before closing.
Trash and recycling
You pick your own garbage hauler from the city’s licensed list. Recycling (every other week) and organics (weekly) are handled by Republic Services and billed on the city utility bill. Most services at the city’s yard waste site are free with ID.
Electric, gas and internet
It depends on the address. Electric is Xcel Energy, Wright-Hennepin or Connexus Energy, and gas is CenterPoint Energy. Xfinity and CenturyLink are the main internet providers. Check availability for the specific home.
Winter parking
No parking on city streets after 2 inches or more of snow until the street is plowed curb to curb, and no overnight street parking from 2 to 6 a.m. all year. Sidewalks need to be cleared within 12 hours after the snow stops.
Pets
Maple Grove doesn’t require a city license for dogs or cats, but pets need a current rabies vaccination and an ID tag or microchip.
New to Minnesota
You have 60 days after becoming a resident to get a Minnesota driver’s license and register your vehicles.
City news
The city mails its City Focus newsletter quarterly, and you can sign up for email or text alerts through the city’s Notify Me service.
