New Hope Aquatic Park
An outdoor pool at Civic Center Park with an eight-lane, 50-meter pool, diving boards, body slides and a current channel. Open in summer.
Music in the Park
Free concerts on summer Wednesday evenings at the city’s outdoor Performance Center, which has built-in seating and a covered stage. Movies in the park are shown there too.
New Hope Village Golf Course
A public nine-hole, par-3 course on Bass Lake Road, with a clubhouse and patio. A round takes about 90 minutes.

Getting around
Highway 169 runs along the west side of New Hope, and Bass Lake Road, 42nd Avenue, Medicine Lake Road and Winnetka Avenue are the main county roads. Metro Transit runs several local bus routes plus express buses to downtown Minneapolis; check Metro Transit for current routes.
Parks and trails
18 city parks and four school parks, with more than 200 acres of park land. Northwood Park has Northwood Lake, softball fields, trails and a picnic pavilion, and Dorothy Mary Park is about six acres left natural, with boardwalks and a dock. The 7-mile Bassett Creek Regional Trail runs through New Hope between French Regional Park in Plymouth and Theodore Wirth Park. Off-leash dog areas at Lions and Liberty parks are open April to November.
Through the year
Music in the Park on summer Wednesday evenings at the Performance Center (4401 Xylon Avenue North), and Trick-or-Trot at Civic Center Park every October. A farmers market on Thursday afternoons in summer at New Hope Church (4225 Gettysburg Avenue North). New Hope doesn’t have its own library branch; residents use Rockford Road Library at 6401 42nd Avenue North in Crystal.
School districts
All of New Hope is in Robbinsdale Area Schools (ISD 281). School assignments go by address, so check any home with the district before you write an offer. We’ll do it with you.

Water and sewer
The city bills water, sewer, storm drainage, street lights, recycling and organics every month, due on the 21st. Call Utility Billing at 763-592-6760. Bills go to the property owner and an unpaid balance passes to the new owner, so buyers and sellers call at least five business days before closing to transfer the account.
Trash and recycling
You hire your own garbage hauler from the city’s licensed list. Pickup is Tuesday on and south of 42nd Avenue and Wednesday north of it. Hennepin Recycling Group picks up recycling every other week on garbage day. Weekly organics pickup is by sign-up, though every household pays the organics fee on the city bill.
Electric, gas and internet
Electric is Xcel Energy and gas is CenterPoint Energy. Comcast (Xfinity) and CenturyLink serve the city, and other companies offer internet too. Check availability for the specific home.
Winter parking
No parking on city streets after 2 inches or more of snow until the street is plowed curb to curb (one city page says 1½ inches, so move cars early). No street parking from 2 to 6 a.m. all year. Property owners clear the public sidewalk next to their home.
Pets
New Hope licenses dogs, cats and ferrets over 6 months old, with proof of rabies vaccination: $15 if spayed or neutered, $30 if not, and free for indoor-only cats. The limit is three dogs and three cats per home.
New to Minnesota
You have 60 days after becoming a resident to get a Minnesota driver’s license and register your vehicles.

What sellers need to know.
New Hope requires a city Point-of-Sale Inspection before any home is sold, and has since 1978. Start it before you list.
What’s my New Hope home worth?The inspection
The owner or the owner’s agent applies to the city and pays the fee before the inspection is scheduled. For a single-family home the fee is $160 (2026), which covers the first inspection and one re-inspection. Someone has to be there to let the inspector in. Call Inspections at 763-531-5127.
Repairs
You get a list of required repairs. The seller makes them and passes a re-inspection, and any open permits on the home are closed, before the city issues a Certificate of Property Maintenance.
Selling as is
If the seller can’t make the repairs, the buyer can take them on with a city Temporary Maintenance Agreement ($80), as long as there are no safety hazards. A cash escrow of at least the city’s repair estimate (minimum $500) is held by the title company or an attorney, and the work is due within 90 days of closing.
Timing
The inspection permit is good for one year. Inspection times fill up, so the city recommends doing it before you list.
Disclosures
Minnesota’s seller disclosure still applies, including any well or septic disclosures. We walk you through it.
Rental homes
Every rental home, including short-term rentals like Airbnb, needs a city rental certificate, renewed every year. A buyer who plans to rent it out should call Community Development at 763-531-5110.
