Downtown West Broadway
Robbinsdale’s main street, with locally owned restaurants and shops. Hackenmueller’s Meats has been on the block since 1882.
Crystal Lake and Lakeview Terrace Park
A 30-acre lakeside park with trails, a picnic pavilion and boat access. The paved Crystal Lake Regional Trail runs past the lake and through downtown.
Whiz Bang Days
The city’s festival every July, with a parade and fireworks. It’s named for Captain Billy’s Whiz Bang, a magazine first published in Robbinsdale in 1919.

Getting around
Highway 100 and County Road 81 (Bottineau Boulevard) run through the city. Metro Transit routes 14, 32, 716 and 717 serve the Robbinsdale Transit Center (4151 Hubbard Avenue North). The METRO Blue Line Extension is planned with a Downtown Robbinsdale station, and construction is planned to start in 2027. Downtown Minneapolis is about 15 to 20 minutes by car, and MSP Airport about 25 to 35, depending on traffic.
Parks and trails
Fourteen city parks covering 110 acres. Lakeview Terrace Park has sports fields, a playground and boat access on Crystal Lake, with limited canoe and kayak storage for rent May to October. The 8.6-mile Crystal Lake Regional Trail connects to the Minneapolis Grand Rounds near Lowry Avenue.
Through the year
Whiz Bang Days every July (July 8 to 11 in 2027), with a parade and fireworks. Robbinsdale doesn’t have its own library branch; residents use Rockford Road Library at 6401 42nd Avenue North in Crystal.
School districts
Robbinsdale is served by Robbinsdale Area Schools (ISD 281). The district approved boundary and building changes starting in 2026–27, so check any home’s school assignment with the district before you write an offer. We’ll do it with you.

Water, sewer and trash
The city provides water, sewer, garbage and recycling, billed every other month. Call Utility Billing at 763-531-1211 as soon as you have a closing date so the city can schedule a final meter reading. Unpaid utility bills can become a lien on a home, so we have the title company confirm the balance before closing.
Pickup schedule
Republic Services picks up garbage weekly and recycling every other week (gold or blue week, by address). Yard waste runs April to November on your regular day. Curbside organics is by request, and a free organics drop-off is behind the community garden at 3933 West Broadway (registration required).
Electric, gas and internet
Electric is Xcel Energy and natural gas is CenterPoint Energy. Xfinity, CenturyLink and Quantum Fiber serve parts of the city. Check availability for the specific home.
Winter parking
Two inches or more of snow is an automatic snow emergency: no parking on streets or alleys until they’re plowed to the curb. Sidewalks need to be cleared within 12 hours of snowfall.
Pets
Robbinsdale requires a city license for dogs and cats over 6 months old, with proof of rabies vaccination.
New to Minnesota
You have 60 days after becoming a resident to get a Minnesota driver’s license and register your vehicles. The Deputy Registrar at City Hall (4100 Lakeview Avenue North) handles licenses, plates and passports.

Robbinsdale ended its point-of-sale (Truth-in-Housing) inspection on February 6, 2024, so sellers no longer need one.
