Westwood Hills Nature Center
160 acres of marsh, woods and restored prairie at 8300 West Franklin Avenue. Trails are open sunrise to sunset all year, and admission and parking are free.
The Rec Center and Aquatic Park
Two indoor ice arenas and an outdoor Aquatic Park at 3700 Monterey Drive, with four-story water slides, a zero-depth pool and diving boards. In 2027 the pool is open June 3 to August 25.
Parktacular
The city’s festival every June at Wolfe Park and The Rec Center. The Grand Day Parade is the main event, with Kidtacular and a free Rock the Park concert the same day.

Getting around
I-394, Highway 100 and Highway 7 run through St. Louis Park, and the city borders Minneapolis to the east. Metro Transit buses serve the city. The METRO Green Line Extension (Southwest LRT) will stop at three stations here: Beltline Boulevard, Wooddale Avenue and Louisiana Avenue. The Metropolitan Council says the line opens June 12, 2027.
Parks and trails
52 city parks, with 11.5 percent of the city’s land set aside for parks, and about 37 miles of trails. The 4.5-mile Cedar Lake LRT Regional Trail runs toward downtown Minneapolis, and the 4.4-mile North Cedar Lake Regional Trail runs from Hopkins through St. Louis Park to the trails around Cedar Lake.
Through the year
Parktacular every June at Wolfe Park and The Rec Center (June 10 to 13 in 2027). A free Summer Concert Series with the St. Louis Park Rotary Club at Veterans’ Memorial Amphitheater (3700 Monterey Drive). The St. Louis Park Library is at 3240 Library Lane.
School districts
St. Louis Park Public Schools serves the city, and the district says its boundaries are nearly identical to the city’s. Boundaries go by address, so check any home with the district before you write an offer. We’ll do it with you.

Water and sewer
The city bills water, sewer, storm drainage and solid waste every three months. Start or stop service through myStLouisPark (choose Utility Billing, then Resident move in or move out), or call Utility Billing at 952-924-2111. The city doesn’t shut off the water when you move. It reads the meter and sends a final bill about two to three weeks after closing.
Trash and recycling
The city runs pickup for single-family homes, billed on the utility bill. Garbage goes weekly and recycling every other week, and yard waste is picked up weekly in season on your garbage day. Weekly organics pickup by Republic Services is free to join. Carts usually stay with the house, so check before you order new ones.
Electric, gas and internet
Electric is Xcel Energy and natural gas is CenterPoint Energy. CenturyLink, Comcast, US Internet and HughesNet serve the area. Check availability for the specific home.
Winter parking
The city considers a snow emergency at 3 inches or more. During one, all vehicles must be off city streets, day or night, until the city ends it, and ticketed cars can be towed after 12 hours. All year, no car can stay parked on a street for more than 48 hours. Clear the public sidewalk in front of your home within six daylight hours after the snow stops, or by noon the next day, whichever is longer.
Pets
St. Louis Park requires a city license and a current rabies vaccination for dogs older than 16 weeks. The license includes access to the city’s off-leash dog parks.
New to Minnesota
You have 60 days after becoming a resident to get a Minnesota driver’s license and register your vehicles.

What sellers need to know.
St. Louis Park requires a city property maintenance inspection, often called a point-of-sale inspection, before you sell a home. Apply for it before you list.
What’s my St. Louis Park home worth?The inspection
The seller applies for the property maintenance inspection permit (online through ePermits, by email, by mail or at City Hall) and schedules the inspection. The fee is $360 for a single-family house or townhouse, $460 for a duplex and $250 for a condo, and it covers any follow-up inspections. A city inspector checks the siding, roof, garage and interior against the city’s property maintenance code, usually in 45 to 60 minutes. The report is public information.
The certificate
If there are no violations, the city issues a property maintenance certificate. It’s good for one year for houses, townhomes and duplexes, and two years for condos. The seller gives it to the buyer and the title company at closing.
Repairs and escrow
If the inspector finds violations, the seller usually makes the repairs. A buyer can take them on instead with a temporary certificate: a signed city escrow agreement, a $155 fee, enough money held in escrow and all open permits closed, with the agreement prepared 48 hours before closing. The buyer then has 90 days after closing to finish the work. Questions go to the city at 952-924-2588.
Rental homes
Any home that isn’t owner-occupied needs an annual city rental license before a tenant moves in. A buyer who plans to rent it out applies for their own.
